The Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) Social Sector Unit, in collaboration with the Kgetlengrivier Local Municipality in the North West Province, successfully trained 31 participants in Road Traffic Management. These participants are now actively assisting the local traffic department with daily operations.

The programme initially ran from October 2024 to March 2025. Due to its positive impact—most notably in reducing crime and traffic offences—the municipality has extended the initiative by an additional six months, from April to September 2025.

“Kgetlengrivier Local Municipality is currently facing financial constraints in absorbing the participants permanently. However, in an effort to sustain the support provided by these trained officers, the municipality has extended the programme by another six months,” said Mmapula Mafoko, EPWP Project Coordinator.
